Recipe for the Spicy Mutton Curry

Ingredients needed for Spicy Mutton Curry:
1/2 kg mutton cleaned,
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 cup oil
4 cloves
1 tsp peppercorns
1 tsp poppy seeds (khus khus)
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp aniseeds (saunf)
1.2 tsp red chilli powder
2 large onions, chopped finely
1/2 coconut, grated
3 tomatoes, chopped
4 large potatoes, peeled & halved
1 cup coriander leaves
Salt to taste

How to prepare the Spicy Mutton Curry:
Marinate the meat pieces in salt, turmeric and ginger-garlic paste for 1 hour.
Heat a tbsp of oil in a pan. Add cloves, peppercorns, poppy seeds, coriander seeds, aniseeds and red chilies. Fry the spices to a golden brown colour.
Add onions and saute until golden brown.
Add grated coconut, tomatoes and fry for a while.
Remove from heat and let them cool. When cooled, grind to a paste and keep aside.
In a pressure cooker, heat the remaining oil.
Add meat and potatoes and stir fry till brown. Add the ground masala pasteto the mutton pieces along with salt. If needed, add water.
Cook under pressure till meat is soft. Remove from the cooker.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with Rotis and pulaos.
