Dal Mulaghuishyam Recipe

Ingredients needed for Mulaghuishyam :
1 cup Thuvaram paruppu (tuar dal),
1/2 green unripe banana (chopped),
1 piece yam chopped,
1 cup grated coconut,
1 tsp red chilli powder,
1/4 tsp pepper powder,
1/2 tsp turmeric powder,
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4  tsp  cumin seeds,
a stalk or two curry leaves
coconut oil as needed for tempering,
salt to taste.

How to prepare Dal Mulaghuishyam:
Pressure cook dal separately and keep aside.
Cook chopped vegetables separately.
Remove 2 tsps of the grated coconut and keep aside.
Grind the rest of the coconut with the cumin seeds to a fine paste.
Add chilli powder, pepper powder and salt to the dal.
Bring it to boil, add the cooked vegetables and the ground coconut jeera paste.
Simmer for a minute or two. Remove and keep aside.
Heat 2 tsps of coconut oil, splutter mustard, add red chilli bits and the 2 tsps of grated coconut.
Fry till the coconut turns golden. Add curry leaves and when they brown pour over the curry.
Serve hot with rice.
