This Mulaga Bhajji or Green Chilli Bhajji or Mirchi Bhajji is another hot favourite in the city of Chennai, mainly at the Marina Beach. Kids and Elders both love this dish even though it is a very hot one.

Ingredients you need for the Mulaga Bhajji Recipe are:
8-10 bigger version of green chillies, they will be light coloured and less hot. You can get them in any market, you just have to ask for Bhajji green chillies.
Keeping the top and the bottom of the Chillies intact, just slit through to the end on both sides and open it up slightly. Keep them aside.
How to prepare batter to make Bhajjis
2 cups Besan flour / Bengal Gram flour
2 -3 tsps Chilli powder
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
To prepare the batter mix Besan with a cup of water or as needed to get a thick batter. Then add chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder and Asafoetida. Blend all the ingredients nicely and keep aside.
For the Tamarind water to immerse the Chillies.
1 tbsp tamarind paste / a gooseberry sized ball of tamarind
1 cup water
Salt to taste
Mix tamarind paste/ pulp, water and salt to make the Tamarind water.
How to prepare the Bhajjis
Heat a fry pan with enough oil to deep fry the chillies.
Take a green chilli, dip it in the tamarind water. Drain out the tamarind water from the Green chillies.
Put the dipped chilli into the besan batter mix and see that the chilli gets coated nicely with the batter.
Carefully slide the chilli into the hot oil and fry till it is golden on both sides.
Serve with Coriander and Pudhina Chutney.
